Star Tribune Police say 18-year-old Quacheenu Zach Vang of Holmen is dead after he suffered severe injuries while apparently "car surfing" in La Crosse. Authorities were initially told that Vang was assaulted by several people at Holmen High School, but later learned that Vang was car surfing with several people, and fell off a moving car. Alcohol is believed to be a factor.

The first car hit by the Jeep was rear ended and erupted into flames, and some cars flipped over. One witness who stopped to help the crash victims also had a fire extinguisher in his car, and helped douse the flames. "Pieces, and cars, and fire, and everything kind of flying," crash witness Jennifer Simons said. Simons also says the driver of the green jeep was conscious but distraught, and asking for his family members. Police wanted to talk to the Jeep driver, but no cause has been determined for the crash

Ken Goodwin, 18, is accused of killing Justin Fallu and wounding three other teens after a wild fight broke out in an apartment in about 3:15 a.m. Sept. 28. Neighbors said teens had been partying and smoking marijuana for hours before a fight erupted and the party spilled out into the lobby. Goodwin, also known as Shakil Martin, stabbed Justin and two 18-year-old boys in the chest and a 17-year-old boy in the shoulder, cops said.

Family turns to Huntsville City Hall for answers, justice in savage beating death of homeless man
  Family and friends of a homeless man who died after being savagely beaten outside a University Drive convenience store are turning to Huntsville City Hall for answers. During Thursday night's Huntsville City Council meeting, Help Our Homeless Veterans & Citizens founder Rusty Loiselle said Mark Pridmore was repeatedly punched and stomped by a "group of thugs" on Sept. 4 after asking for 50 cents. (A pack of) 8 to 10 men joined the assault in the Mini Mart 2 parking lot across from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, said Loiselle. Pridmore, 40, slipped into a coma the next morning and later died at Huntsville Hospital. Police charged 18-year-old Behre Xavier Starling with manslaughter earlier this month, but the other men involved remain free. "Hate crimes like this cannot go unpunished," said Loiselle. "When will Mark Scott Pridmore get true justice?" Loiselle and other homeless advocates said they feel Huntsville police haven't taken the case seriously enough because Pridmore was homeless.

Carter was found shot dead not far from his Washington Street store Monday. Police said he was shot in the stomach. “It was just such a shock, and I tell you what went through my stomach is like a horse had kicked me in the stomach,” Carter’s brother David said Tuesday. On Monday, police arrested and charged 33-year-old Leon Hayes and 22-year-old Naomi Lambert with first-degree murder. Walker, Hayes, and Lambert are also charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and attempted armed robbery, according to police spokeswoman Diana Klink. Murder suspect: 'I didn't mean to shoot my estranged wife'  The man accused of murdering his estranged wife in Sevier County confessed to the killing Thursday during an interview with a reporter. Andrew B. Beverly, 45, said he went to his estranged wife's house with a gun intending to hurt or even kill the man who was now living with her. . "The most hurtful thing to me is I seen somebody in my house that we built," Beverly told a reporter. "And that was the hurting thing to see someone in my house." When he arrived at her home, Beverly said his wife, Angela Beverly, 39, was taking out the trash in the driveway of their house. He claimed when he tried to grab his wife, his gun fired and she was shot. "It's not particular reason why I done it," Beverly said during the interview, "I really didn't mean to shoot my wife. I grabbed her, and the gun went off. Didn't know where I hit her at, to be honest. I didn't know where I shot her at. When she was down on the ground, I went beside her and said, 'Angela you alright?' She just didn't move." Niagara Falls Police Arrest One Black Suspect, Look for a Second, After Fatal Shooting of White Man
  N.Y. -- Niagara Falls residents are trying to make sense of a homicide that happened Tuesday night. Police believe an argument led to the shooting. Officers discovered 30-year-old William Reilly of Niagara Falls in the home with two gunshot wounds to the upper body. Reilly was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center where he later died. Investigators said they have arrested the suspected gunmen 18-year-old Darrell Jermaine Belton of Niagara Falls. However, the suspect they believe was driving the getaway car has yet to be found. Slaying of Domino's driver, Uptown carjacking committed by same 3 teens, police testify
  Three teenage boys are accused of participating in the murder of a pizza deliveryman in Mid-City this week, a New Orleans police detective testified Friday, and the mother of one said she fears her son faces a possible life sentence because of his poor choice of friends. The case against the two teens in custody - Shane Hughes and Rendell Brown, both 16 - moved forward Friday when a juvenile court judge found there was enough evidence to jail them on charges of first-degree murder. The judge also agreed to send the case to Criminal District Court, where prosecutors will try them as adults in the slaying of Domino's Pizza driver Richard "Chris" Yeager. A third teen - Brown's younger brother Rejean, who is either 15 or 14 - also is wanted by police. Police previously only revealed that one of the teens arrested in the Domino's slaying was linked to the Saturday carjacking,
in which a 50-year-old woman was approached in her driveway by three assailants and beaten in the face with a gun by one young man whose face was covered by a blue-and-white bandana. The woman suffered a broken nose, cracked eye socket and nasal fracture. The trio fled with her 2008 silver Volvo and a purse containing her checkbook, ID and $1,300 in cash, a police report said. - (Black-on-white)

| Serial Killer, 74, Sentenced To 3 Life Terms Without Possibility Of Parole
 LOS ANGELES — A 74-year-old man was sentenced Thursday to three consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole forstrangling three women in the 1980s. Samuel Little got sexual gratification out of strangling the women, all of whom were cocaine addicts, prosecutors said. A jury convicted Little on Sept. 2 of three counts of first-degree murder after just two hours of deliberation. Jurors also found true the special circumstance allegation of multiple murders. Little was convicted of killing Carol Alford, 41, whose body was found July 13, 1987, in an alley off East 27th Street; Audrey Nelson, 35, whose body was discovered in a dumpster behind East Seventh Street on Aug. 14, 1989; and Guadalupe Apodaca, 46, whose body was found inside a South Los Angeles commercial garage on Sept. 3, 1989. |
